SOUTH RIVER–From writing their speeches to picking out a cap and gown, South River High School’s valedictorian Jennifer DeBellis and salutatorian Faith Dedopoulos are ready for high school graduation, but then to move on to their college plans.
DeBellis, 18, said she is very proud of herself and is excited to be this year’s valedictorian.
After graduating from high school, DeBellis said she plans on attending Rutgers University to major in biological sciences.
“I’m very excited, I can’t wait to see what the future holds,” DeBellis said.
Dedopoulos, 17, said she is also going to Rutgers this fall, and will be attending their Honors College and Business School. She plans on completing a double major in business analytics and information technology and accounting.
“I am very honored to be this year’s salutatorian. I was very grateful to receive this news and it is a great accomplishment of mine. Seeing how my hard work over the last few years paid off was very exciting, and I’m very thankful for my family and teachers who encouraged and helped me receive this achievement,” Faith said.
Like many of her classmates, Faith said she is eagerly anticipating the transition from high school to college.
“Graduating high school and moving on to the next phase of my life is something I am looking forward to. I am very excited to be on campus and to continue my education,” she said.
