A man from Monroe has been charged for his involvement in a fatal motor vehicle collision, which resulted in the death of a woman in another motor vehicle.
On July 18, authorities responded to Route 9 south near Texas Road in Old Bridge following the report of a serious motor vehicle collision, according to a statement provided by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Acting Chief Peter LoPresti of the Old Bridge Police Department.
Upon their arrival, officers located a Toyota Echo containing four occupants with varying injuries. One of the occupants, Ciara Gee, 20, of Raleigh, North Carolina, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the statement.
Officers located Sergio Seixeiro, 40, of Monroe, in his damaged Ford Expedition, according to the statement.
An initial investigation by Officer Steve Connolly of the Old Bridge Police Department and Detective Jonathan Berman of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined Seixiero’s truck impacted the rear of the Toyota Echo. At this time, speed, reckless driving and intoxication are believed to be contributing factors, according to allegations listed in the statement.
Seixeiro has been charged with one count of aggravated manslaughter, one count of vehicular homicide, and three counts of assault by auto.
Seixeiro was also issued a motor vehicle summons for driving while intoxicated.
Seixeiro was lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center as of press time, where he was being held pending a pre-trial detention hearing in Superior Court.
The investigation is active and continuing. Anyone with information should call Connolly at 732-721-5600, ext. 3821, or Berman at 732-745-4328.
