Girl Scouts to release 1,000 ladybugs at East Brunswick complex

Local East Brunswick-area Girl Scouts will “blast off” (release) more than 1,000 adult ladybugs this weekend at a special event.

The blastoff event is part of a summer-long project where Girl Scouts have raised, or will raise, more than 500 ladybug larvae into adults. As part of the program, they learn about insect life cycles, metamorphosis and beneficial insects.

The blastoff is open to the public and will include a ladybug story area, ladybug facts, a service project, and other activities.

Stop by the East Brunswick Municipal Complex on Civic Center Drive from 6-7 p.m. Aug. 20.
