As temperatures ‘Rise,’ campers treated to Jersey SNO treats

The Rise Community Services Partnership of Hightstown wrapped up its five-week summer camp program on Aug. 13 with a special celebration for its campers and families.

“This summer was one of the best yet. We have welcomed many new faces to our Rise family and I hope we can continue to grow together,” Sanziana Penafiel, 2021 summer camp co-director, said in a prepared statement.

As the campers were recognized for completing their program at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, they were surprised with shaved ice from Jersey SNO, based in Hightstown.

Jersey SNO started in 2014 as a mobile cotton candy party service and expanded to offer other specialty party treats including shaved ice, popcorn, waffle stix, mini donuts and more.

Company creator Letrice Thomas is a longtime East Windsor/Hightstown resident and proud to operate as a 100% woman- and minority-owned business, according to the statement.

“I enjoy helping people celebrate their most special moments including birthdays, weddings, sweet 16’s, retirements, employee appreciation and more. Our customers not only love our treats, but appreciate the high level of customer service we bring to them.” Thomas said in the statement.

Having been a past recipient of the Rise food pantry and other supplemental community services, Thomas understands the importance of community connections and has partnered with many local schools and nonprofit organizations for special events and fundraising opportunities, according to the statement.
