Stella Chrinko passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the age of 94.
Stella was born and raised in South Amboy. A graduate of Hoffman High School, she studied typing and business, going on to work as a bookkeeper and an accounting machine operator prior to marriage in 1951. In addition to her primary career as a homemaker, she and her husband, Frank, opened Fugazy International Travel in North Brunswick in 1973, where she again took on the bookkeeping. Owning a travel agency gave Stella and Frank the opportunity to enjoy a multitude of travel experiences.
Some of her greatest pleasures were raising her children, baking countless pies and watching her family grow. She carefully and lovingly attended to each. For many decades Stella enjoyed her monthly get-togethers with high school friends, ‘the club’. Needlework and reading often filled her quiet moments in later years. As a young woman and into her retirement she cherished many days, weeks and months ‘down the shore’.
She is predeceased by her husband, Frank; her brother, Stanley Knast and her sister, Anna Slomko.
She is survived by her children: Joan McGee, and her husband Mark; Frank Chrinko, and his wife Wendy; Marie Marusa, and her husband Tom; Tricia Rich, and her husband Bob; Cathy Applegate, and her husband Tom; and Michael Chrinko. She is also survived by her brother, Carl Knast; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Stella was laid to rest on Monday, August 9, 2021 at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick.
The family welcomes contributions in her memory to Stein Hospice, Somerset, NJ, wilfcampus.org or to Eden Autism Services of Princeton, edenautism.org
