SOUTH BRUNSWICK – A man from South Carolina who had car trouble along Route 1 was struck by a hit-and-run driver.
Police responded to the area of Route 1 southbound between Beekman Road and Sandhills Road around 1:12 a.m. Aug. 21 for a report of a man struck by a car, according to information provided by the South Brunswick Police Department on Aug. 27.
Upon arrival, officers found that a 28-year-old man from South Carolina, who was having car trouble and had been pushing his 2010 Nissan out of the roadway, had been struck by another vehicle, which then fled the scene, according to the statement.
The man was transported to the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
The vehicle that struck the man is described as a white Ford Transit Connect van with roof racks, last seen traveling southbound on Route 1. The vehicle should be missing the lower front grill and have damage to the passenger side front fender, police said.
