Adrah Dent Payne, born September 5, 1926, died August 15, 2021 at St Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Facility in Lawrenceville, NJ. Mrs. Payne was a longtime resident of Hopewell Township, NJ. She was a librarian of the Ewing Township and Hopewell Valley schools as well as Princeton University. She was a vital member of the Princeton Friends Meeting and a founding board member of Princeton Friends School. Adrah was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed volunteering, gardening, baking, playing games, knitting, and laughing at jokes. She is survived by four children: Gary, Stephen, Leigh Ann, and Sara (Ottinger); sons and daughters in-law: Jay Ottinger, Stephen Meili, Janet Payne and Mary Lou Morris; 10 grandchildren and one great grandson. Mrs. Payne is predeceased by her husband Donald and son Randy. She will be remembered for her life of service as a missionary to Korea, a mother, an educator and a volunteer in many social outreach organizations.

A celebration of life will be held on September 19 at 2:00 in the afternoon at Stony Brook Meeting House, 470 Quaker Rd. Princeton. Contributions in Adrah’s honor may be directed to Princeton Friends Meeting.
