The Jackson Liberty High School Marching Band earned first place honors and was crowned Best Overall Band at their first competition of the year – the Tournament of Bands which was held at Manchester High School on Sept. 18.
Out of 13 competing bands, the Jackson Liberty band had the highest overall score and also earned awards for Best Music, Best Percussion and Best Visual, according to a press release.
After not competing last year because of COVID-19 restrictions, the students returned to the competition season eager to perform.
“It feels good to be back and it was a great way to start the season,” Band Director Scott Katona said.
The band’s high energy show “Droid” was a crowd favorite at the competition.
