The Hopewell Planning Board will continue the hearing for an application proposing the construction of a two-story structure on East Broad Street in October.
A public hearing for the bifurcated application will take place on Oct. 6. The project will be towards the rear of the property at 27 E. Broad St., which is located near the intersection of Seminary Ave and East Broad.
According to application documents, the proposed building in B-R Business Zone would be constructed to contain three apartments and garages spaces. Two apartments would reside on the second story of the building. The apartments on the second floor would be a 1-bedroom and 3-bedroom.
A handicapped-accessible apartment will be created on the first story of the structure.
There are five garages spaces also set to be on the ground level of the building.
The existing site is currently occupied by a three-story historic structure that fronts East Broad Street and currently contains a mixed use of four apartments and two commercial spaces, according to application documents.
The site was formerly occupied by Jack and Charlie’s Ice Cream.
The rear of the lot has existing two-car and four-car detached garages. Those existing garages are planned to be demolished and would be replaced with the newly proposed structure.
The applicant is seeking a D-1 variance to permit a second principal residential building on the property and D-4 variance for an increase in maximum floor area ratio.
