A routine traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation led to a charge of possession of fraudulent government documents being filed against a 29-year-old New Hope, Pennsylvania, man after he was stopped by police on Oct. 17 on Route 518, just outside the Hopewell Borough border. An investigation revealed that the temporary license plate and vehicle registration card for the Volkswagen van he was driving were fraudulent, according to reports.
An Eaton Court resident reported Oct. 29 that someone had fraudulently used the victim’s personal information to open a bank account at JP Morgan Chase Bank.
A 34-year-old man from The Bronx, N.Y., was charged with possession of fraudulent government documents following a motor vehicle stop on Bear Tavern Road Oct. 16 for a motor vehicle violation. The temporary license plate and the vehicle registration card for the box truck were found to be fake, according to reports.
A victim walked into the Hopewell Township Police Department headquarters to report that someone had fraudulently cashed a check for more than $1,000 from the victim’s bank account. The theft was reported Oct. 18.
Someone used a Palmer Road resident’s personal information to file for unemployment benefits in an incident of identity theft that was reported Oct. 20, police said.
