Ann O’Connor Gordon slipped away peacefully at her home in Princeton, NJ, on October 22nd in her 83rd year. Widow of Tony, dear sister to Peter and Richard, sister-in-law to Sally and Lesley. Aunt to Ashling and Natasha (London) Kassia (British Columbia) Peter (California) Patrick (Ontario) and their families.
Ann lived and travelled all over the world, first, as a young girl with her family, in India, then when older, Ireland and Afghanistan. She studied in London then moved to Boston to work as a physiotherapist,
where she met and married her dear Tony. In around 1970, they moved to Princeton, (followed soon after by a move to Hopewell) as Tony was employed by the NOAA Geophysical Fluid Dynamic Lab. Ann attended art school in New York and devoted the rest of her life to developing her art and teaching which included her working as an art therapist with children in Dublin and running art and cultural programs both in Connemara and her home in Wicklow.
Ann was diagnosed with Parkinson’s early 2000’s. Even as she was struggling with the disease, she managed to keep producing art, exhibiting several times at her favorite gallery, Morpeth Contemporary, in Hopewell. Ann was determined not to let the Parkinson’s get the better of her, and struggled for years in a spirit of fierce determination, but she finally succumbed on Friday, October 22, 2021, surrounded, and supported by, some of her great friends and hospice team from Embracing HospiceCare.
Ann’s indomitable, and generous, spirit will be missed by her wide diversity of cousins, friends, and colleagues.
