Sharon Mae Hughes, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on October 25th surrounded by her family.
Sharon is survived by her husband Chris of 39 years, daughter Vicki Tornetta & husband Steve, son Tom Haaf & wife Lisa, son Michael, son Scott & wife Kate and son Greg & wife Jolene. She leaves behind her thirteen grandchildren: Jon Mark, Sarah, Danny, Stephen, Benjamin, Madison, Jack, Emily, Samuel, Anna, Stephanie, Ella and Casey. She is also survived by her sister and three brothers Wayne & wife Joyce, Barry & wife Michele, Bonnie & husband Flex Podraza and Andy & wife Karen.
Sharon, the daughter of Geneva and Harvey Johnson was born on March 22, 1950 in Woodbury, New Jersey and spent her childhood growing up on their farm in Monroeville. She attended Woodstown High school, class of 1968.
Sharon was a loving ‘Grammy’ who delighted in laughing, spending time with people and loving her God and Savior. Prior to her battle with sarcoidosis, she enjoyed gardening, reading, being involved in church, having lunch with friends, volunteering with special Olympics, skiing and traveling.
Visiting for relatives and friends will be held on Friday, November 12, from 12pm – 1:30pm with a memorial service beginning at 1:30pm in the Hillsborough Funeral Home, 796 US Hwy 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in her honor be sent to Special Olympics Somerset County, P.O. Box 851, Somerville, NJ 08876.
