Ammiano, Cook win new terms on Township Committee in Freehold Township

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – Incumbent Republicans Anthony Ammiano and Thomas Cook have won new three-year terms on the Township Committee in Freehold Township. The terms will run from January 2022 through December 2024.

Ammiano and Cook ran unopposed in the 2021 municipal election, which was conducted with mail in ballots, with early in-person voting on nine days in October and with in-person voting on Nov. 2.

Ammiano received 9,165 votes and Cook received 9,043 votes, according to results posted online by the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office. The results are unofficial until they have been certified by the county.

In 2022, Republicans will continue to hold all five Township Committee seats, as they have done for the better part of 50 years.

Ammiano, who is serving as deputy mayor this year, joined the committee in 2001 and is the longest serving member of the governing body. For 33 years, he has worked as the chief financial officer/treasurer for Del-Sano Contracting Corporation, Union.

“Tom Cook and I had the honor of being re-elected to the Township Committee,” Ammiano said. “We wish to publicly thank the voters for their support and the confidence they have placed in us again. It is humbling to represent such a fine community and continue the tradition of outstanding local government.

“Freehold Township has always been a model of how local government is supposed to work,” he said. “And while not perfect, Freehold Township has continually had a stable tax rate, outstanding services and a professional business approach to governing. We are committed to keeping our community the wonderful place it is to live, work and raise a family.”

Cook, who is serving as mayor this year, joined the committee in 2013. Professionally, Cook is the reprographics director for an international law firm in New York City.

“I am honored to have been re-elected and look forward to another three years of working diligently with my colleagues on the committee to keep Freehold Township a family town,” Cook said.

Ammiano and Cook are joined on the governing body by Maureen Fasano, Lester Preston and Alan Walker.
