Old Bridge PBAs sponsor Thanksgiving baskets for more than 150 families in need; next up is Cops for Kids

OLD BRIDGE – More than 150 township families received Thanksgiving baskets ahead of the holiday on behalf of Old Bridge Policemen Benevolent Association (PBA) Locals 127 and 127a members.

Members were able to meet some families as they distributed the baskets at the Old Bridge Food Bank on Nov. 20.

“As in years past, our PBA was happy to donate Thanksgiving baskets filled with various food items to those families throughout our community in need this time of year,” PBA President Vincent Galgano said in a social media post.

The Old Bridge Department of Parks and Recreation and Social Services, in partnership with the Department of Public Works, organizes the annual event for the Old Bridge Food Bank.

“There were over 150 families to feed this year and we are glad that our sponsorship was able to feed all of those families,” Galgano said, adding they are grateful for everyone’s support. “There is nothing better than us being there for our Old Bridge families.”

Cops for Kids

Next up, the PBA will host its 25th annual “Cops for Kids” holiday party on Dec. 3 at the Municipal Complex, 1 Old Bridge Plaza.

Nikki’s Dawgs, one of the event’s biggest supporters, collected bags of toys and games with a toy drive the past few months.

On Nov. 17, Old Bridge Police Sgt. Jim Ford, who serves as secretary of the Old Bridge Superior Officers Association, and Officer Vinny Tavares stopped by Nikki’s Dawgs on Route 516 to receive the donation from Nicole and Craig Cordero.

The PBA has been recognizing many people and organizations for their toy donations for this year’s event on their social media page.

The party will be held indoors.

Approximately 90 children and their families will be treated to a full dinner, DJ music, games, a visit from Santa and gifts for every child.

The PBA is still collecting donations, which can be sent to Cops for Kids, Old Bridge Police Department, 1 Old Bridge Plaza, Old Bridge 08857, Attn: Sgt. Jim Ford. New, unwrapped toys and games for children can be dropped off at police headquarters from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
