Atlantic Hub News Briefs, Dec. 8

The Borough Council in Eatontown has awarded a $109,350 contract to T&M Associates, the borough’s engineering firm, so the company may study an area of the municipality that is affected by flooding.

T&M Associates will perform a flood attenuation study at Wampum Brook. According to a resolution, Eatontown has a serious flooding problem in the Wampum Brook stream corridor, which has a significant impact on residents, businesses and the future redevelopment of property at the former Fort Monmouth military installation.

T&M Associates will investigate and propose solutions to address the issue. The study will identify existing storm water attenuation facilities in the Wampum Brook drainage area; perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of potential storm water measures to ameliorate the flooding problem; and interface with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and borough officials to review and discuss the feasibility of identified upgrades of existing storm water facilities and the construction of proposed storm water facilities to abate the flooding problem, according to the resolution.

Funding for the T&M Associates contract was provided through the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (LFRF). Prior to awarding the contract to the firm, the council members approved a measure which moved the $109,350 that was received from the LFRF into the 2021 municipal budget for the Wampum Brook flood study.
