Saint Peter’s Healthcare System announced the appointments of Racheal Ankrah-Fosu and Leonardo DeCandia to the healthcare system’s Board of Governors.
Ankrah-Fosu of Randolph is chief operations and technology officer at ConSol USA, a for-profit social enterprise delivering sustainable and scalable diverse outsourced technology talent from underserved communities to corporate America nationally via an innovative new model in workforce development.
A former financial technology executive, she drove the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) trade execution measurements from five minutes to milliseconds.
She is also the founder of the Ruth & Isaac Project, a mission-driven non-profit organization focused on improving the health and efficacy of 45 million unpaid U.S. caregivers via the identification of training and use of supportive technology.
Ankrah-Fosu is a graduate of Oxford University’s Said Business School, Oxford, England, and an Oxford Forte Fellow, having been featured as an Inspirational Woman by Oxford’s Saïd Business School.
She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Rutgers University and was named to the Rutgers African-American Alliance Alumni Hall of Fame. While at Rutgers, Ankrah-Fosu co-developed, marketed and taught an entrepreneurial program for the Rutgers Cooperative Extension programs designed for at-risk youth.
She is a member of the board of directors of the New Jersey African American Chamber of Commerce and a member of the National Advisory Council of NPower, an organization that creates pathways to economic prosperity by launching digital careers for military veterans and young adults from underserved communities.
“I am thrilled to join Saint Peter’s legacy of humble service to humanity, particularly to the underserved,” Ankrah-Fosu said. “I very much look forward to bringing my information technology executive experience and passion for transformational technology to the board of governors. As a corporate citizen, my ability to support Saint Peter’s in its pursuit of excellence and patient safety enables me to extend my personal ministry to over 43.5 million unseen, unpaid caregivers who support ill family members and friends every single day. My hope is that we will continue to look for ways to transform the care experience utilizing cutting-edge technology to extend care for the sick beyond the walls of the hospital to homes for both patients and those who care for the ill.”
DeCandia of Princeton is currently chief procurement officer at Johnson & Johnson, a $93 billion maker of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and consumer health products. In his role, DeCandia is responsible for all global procurement policies, including supplier base strategy development, practices such as relationship management and functional headcount.
He serves as a member of the Johnson & Johnson Enterprise Governance Council (ESG Focus) and as executive sponsor of the company’s second largest Employee Resource Group, the Alliance for Diverse Abilities.
DeCandia was recently honored with the CPO of the Year award, a designation reserved for those individuals who have driven new performance heights as a result of their direct and exceptional leadership and management. Presented by CPO Rising, a news and media site written for and about chief procurement officers and other supply management executives, the recognition is especially significant given the challenging business environment of this past year.
With 35-plus years of experience at global pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare companies, DeCandia has also held executive positions at Estee Lauder, AmerisourceBergen and Roche. He is a subject matter expert in engineering, manufacturing, sourcing and supply chain management.
DeCandia is a graduate of Rutgers University and the founding chair of the Center for Supply Chain Management at Rutgers University where he teaches graduate-level courses in Supply Chain Innovation Management.
DeCandia is a sponsor of the Johnson & Johnson Procurement Leadership Development Program, recognized as one of the world’s top 10 MBA development programs.
He was recently named by Supply Chain Magazine as a Top 30 global supply chain leader.
“It is quite an honor to be appointed to the board of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System. I have been part of the New Brunswick community from my early days as a student at Rutgers to my current role at Johnson & Johnson and at the Rutgers Business School,” DeCandia said. “As a son of Italian immigrants with deep New Jersey roots, I’ve always been guided by my faith. My hope is to be able to use my talent and experience to contribute to this community, making it healthier through the fulfillment of Saint Peter’s Catholic mission.”
“On behalf of Saint Peter’s Board of Governors, we welcome two such highly-accomplished individuals to our healthcare system’s board,” said Leslie D. Hirsch, FACHE, president and CEO of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System. “Ms. Ankrah-Fosu has extensive experience in the financial technology sector and her dedication to serving the underserved synergistically aligns with Saint Peter’s Catholic mission and our commitment to the community at-large. Mr. DeCandia brings to us a unique skill set that will enhance our supply chain processes and assist Saint Peter’s as we lay the groundwork for the future. The next few years will be a transformative time for Saint Peter’s and I look forward to collaborating with such talented individuals on the critical issues that impact our healthcare system and those we serve.”
