SOUTH BRUNSWICK – A longtime EMS volunteer for South Brunswick is remembered for being a community caretaker.
Manny Mulero spent more than 32 years as an EMT for the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad.
He was a teacher with the New York City School system before his retirement, and was also an EMT in New York City.
In retirement he continued to give back, serving for five years as a crossing guard with the South Brunswick Police Department.
In 2020 he coordinated fit testing to ensure all police officers had the proper masks while battling the pandemic.
He passed away on Dec. 5 at age 65.
“He was always giving back. His bright smile and easy going personality could calm any situation. He will be missed,” Police Chief Raymond Hayducka said in a prepared statement.
Services were arranged by M.J. Murphy Funeral Home in Monmouth Junction on Dec. 10.
Service and burial took place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Jamesburg on Dec. 11.
