The Township Committee in Freehold Township has awarded two contracts totaling $384,200 for improvements to wells in Freehold Township’s water treatment plant on Jackson Mills Road.
On March 29, committee members passed a resolution awarding a $248,200 contract to A.C. Shultes, Inc., Woodbury Heights, for the repair and redevelopment of Well No. 14 at the Jackson Mills Road Water Treatment Plant.
According to the resolution, only A.C. Shultes, Inc. submitted a bid for the project.
Committee members also passed a resolution awarding a $136,000 contract to A.C. Shultes for the rehabilitation of Well No. 9. A.C. Shultes received the contract as the lowest bidder, according to the resolution.
According to the resolution, another bid was submitted by Uni-Tech Drilling Co., Inc., who bid $137,385. Superintendent of Utilities Timothy Keune recommended that the township award the contract to A.C. Shultes.
In other business, Committee members passed a resolution for sports camp director services as an extraordinary unspecifiable service.
The contracts were awarded in an amount not to exceed $16,000 each to Todd Briggs for Spring Track & Field and Cross Country Camp; not to exceed $14,000 to Briggs for Fall Track & Field; $12,000 to Briggs for Summer Track & Field; $10,000 each to Brian Golub for Patriot Shooters BB and Sharp Shooters BB; $8,000 to John Sciarappa for Patriot Pride BB; and $6,000 to David Patterson for Patriot Soccer Camp, according to the resolution.

Exciting performances and engaging activities await area children at the 2022 World Diversity Day Children’s Festival on May 21. The family friendly outdoor event, with storytellers, sing-alongs, dancing, crafts, choirs, book giveaways and more, will celebrate cultural diversity while teaching acceptance of others. The event will take place from 1-4 p.m. at Lake Topanemus Park, Pond Road, Freehold Township.
“Grade school children and their families will be able to explore diverse ethnicities, abilities and identities in a fun-filled outdoor atmosphere,” said Rick Aaronson, president of the Western Monmouth Democratic Coalition, which is partnering with nonpartisan community groups to organize the World Diversity Day event, according to a press release.
The festival, which is free and open to the public, will have interactive programs and activities ideal for 5- to 10-year-olds, plus opportunities for adults to connect with community resources or register to vote. There is no rain date.

Manalapan police are investigating an incident during which unknown individuals gained access to an unlocked vehicle that had the key fob inside while the vehicle, a BMW X7 valued at $120,000, was parked in the driveway of a West Parsonage Way residence.
The resident also reported that the unknown individuals who entered the vehicle also entered the residence and removed a purse valued at $1,500 and two pairs of eyeglasses valued at $1,200. Police were called to the scene just before midnight April 5.
Patrolman James Guarino handled report, which is pending further investigation.
In a second incident, police reported that unknown individuals stole an unlocked vehicle, valued at about $180,000, while it was parked at a Fountayne Lane residence. Police were called to the scene shortly after 6 p.m. April 4.
Patrolman Douglas Zike handled the report, which is pending further investigation.
Finally, police reported that unknown individuals stole an unlocked BMW that had the key fob inside the vehicle while it was parked at a Mulberry Drive residence. The vehicle is valued at about $65,000. Police were called to the scene at 11:30 p.m. April 3.
Patrolman Jeremy Slad handled the report, which is pending further investigation.
