The Hillsborough Township Committee acted on the recommendation of the chief of police and hired four new police officers at the April 26 Township Committee meeting.
“There are vacancies within the police department and after a thorough search and interview process, the top candidates are being hired to fill those vacancies,” Mayor Shawn Lipani said, according to a statement released by the township after the meeting.
Michael Liscik, Brian Polacik, Tiana Ramos and Maurizio Toto were sworn in, accompanied by their families.
Liscik is 24 years old and a resident of Hillsborough. He is a recent alternate route graduate of the Essex County Police Academy. He has an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Raritan Valley Community College.
Polacik is 26 years old and a resident of Hamilton Township. He previously served with the Guttenberg Police Department and is a graduate of the Essex County Police Academy.
Ramos is 31 years old and a resident of Oceanport. She previously served with the Avon-by-the-Sea Police Department and is a graduate of the Ocean County Police Academy. She has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Purdue University.
Toto is 26 years old and a resident of Woodbridge. Toto previously served with the Atlantic City Police Department and is a graduate of the Atlantic County Police Academy. He has an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Brookdale Community College.
“Congratulations and welcome to these candidates on their completion of the rigorous interviewing process. Our department looks forward to having them join our ranks,” Police Chief Mike McMahon said in the statement.
