Dine Below the Line raises awareness about problem of food insecurity

Replenish, formerly known as the Middlesex County Food Organization and Outreach Distribution Services (MCFOODS), hosted its sixth annual Dine Below the Line hunger awareness event at First Presbyterian in Metuchen.

In addition to raising awareness about the growing problem of food insecurity and showcasing food pantries, the event provided information on how to access them, the resources and support services that are available, and remove the stigma attached to utilizing the pantries, according to the statement.

Feeding Middlesex County will use the more than $4,000 raised from the event on May 12 to purchase food and basic supplies to aid Middlesex County families struggling with food insecurity.

Chefs who participated in the 2022 Dine Below the Line competition included Chef Dan Slobodien from Pearl Street Café representing First Presbyterian Church Pantry in Metuchen; Chef Brian Karluk of Steakhouse 85 representing Sharon Baptist Church Food Pantry in New Brunswick; and Chef Fr. Marshall Shelly representing St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Alice’s CUP Food Pantry in Spotswood,.
