The Township Committee in Freehold Township has awarded an emergency contract to repair the municipal building’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.
In May, committee members awarded a contract to the Carrier Corporation for the emergency repair and replacement of the HVAC condenser at the municipal building on Stillwells Corner Road.
According to a resolution, the HVAC condenser was in need of repair on May 3. The committee’s May 10 resolution states that the repair was necessary because the lack of air conditioning in the municipal building affected public and employee health and safety. The contract was in the estimated amount of $29,966.
In other business, Freehold Township officials awarded a $53,000 contract to Capela Construction Inc. for a pavilion installation project at Michael J. Tighe Park, Georgia Road.
Bids were also submitted by AB Designs Contracting Corp. ($137,000); Park Builders ($63,700); and Whirl Corporation Inc. ($62,600).
Capela Construction was awarded the contract as the lowest bidder on the recommendation of Superintendent of Parks and Recreation Sue McGough.
On May 24, Township Committee members authorized a decrease in a contract that had been awarded to Level-1 Construction for filter upgrades on the south side of the Jackson Mills Road water treatment plant.
The contract, which was awarded in 2021, initially totaled $479,000. According to a resolution, a $15,790 reduction was recommended by Mott MacDonald, the township’s engineering firm, and Superintendent of Utilities Timothy Keune due to a decrease in the final contract value consistent with the final as-built quantities for the project. The final contract totals $463,209 and all work on the project has been completed and accepted.
Finally, committee members authorized a contract with Cherry Valley Tractor Sales, Marlton, for the purchase of a Carlton SP5014 self-propelled stump grinder. The purchase is in the amount of $35,107.
