NORTH BRUNSWICK – A Hightstown man has been charged in his alleged connection with a fatal vehicle crash on Route 130, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Joseph Battaglia of the North Brunswick Police Department.
Egrevel Vasquez-Garcia, 27, was charged with aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide and assault by auto on June 29, according to a Middlesex County Prosecutor’s press release on June 30.
Authorities responded to the southbound lane of Route 130 near the Farrington Inn following a report of a crash at 11:50 p.m. on June 28, police said.
Through an investigation by Detective Jason Vallese of the North Brunswick Police Department and Detectives Jonathan Berman and James Alleva of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, they determined a vehicle driven by Vasquez-Garcia, struck a vehicle driven by Levelt Alexis, 34, of Linden, police said.
Alexis was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he was
later pronounced dead, according to police.
Vasquez-Garcia is currently being housed at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center in North Brunswick pending a detention hearing.
