PENNINGTON
Lorraine (Lorrie) S. Kerr, 93, died on July 10th at Brandywine Assisted Living in Pennington where she lived for four years. Prior to that she had been a resident of Lawrenceville for 54 years. Lorrie, the only child of Warren J. Snyder and Marie Losch Snyder, was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and grew up in the Harrisburg area.
After graduating Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Lorrie taught Home Economics for several years. Eventually she earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education from the former Trenton State College. She taught at the Columbus School in the Trenton School District for many years before retiring.
Traveling was a favorite of Lorrie’s. She and her friends traveled the world over and never got enough! Lorrie had a great love of animals having raised many wild birds, a baby squirrel and many cats and dogs throughout her life. She loved antiques, beading, reading, shopping and dining. And what a cook she was! She conjured up many international dishes and loved sharing with everyone. She always had a kind word, a smile on her face and had a great sense of humor!
Lorrie had been married to the late Dr. George T. Kerr for nearly 50 years and was mother of the late Jeffrey and Robert Kerr. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joanna (Jodi) and William Harley of Hopewell, NJ. She is also survived by four grandchildren, grandson Christopher Harley and his paramour Ashley Kark of Ringoes, NJ, granddaughter Jessica Harley and her wife Joanna (Jojo) Harley of North Brunswick, NJ, grandson Kessler Kerr and his wife Anna and their daughter Adeline (Lorrie’s great granddaughter!!) of Woodridge, Ill., and grandson Ian Kerr of Baja, Mexico. She also leaves behind a great group of “teacher friends” whom she loved, especially Kathi Eckert.
Thank you to those who cared for her at Brandywine. You meant a lot to her!
