Another year of the Hopewell Valley National Night Out at Stony Brook Elementary School in Pennington was deemed a success for all involved.
The annual community event Aug. 2 featured Hopewell Township and Pennington police officers, Hopewell Valley fire departments and emergency services personnel, fire trucks, ambulances, a dunk tank, bouncy house, pony rides, food, and live DJ music.
National Night Out is an annual community event that was created nationally in the 1980s as a community building campaign in an effort to make communities safer, according to its website.
During Hopewell Valley’s National Night Out, families were able to meet officers in Hopewell Township and Pennington who serve the municipalities that make Hopewell Valley – Hopewell Township, Pennington and Hopewell Borough.
The families were also able to personally meet their local firefighters and first aid squads.
