A Raritan man has been charged in connection to alleged sexual assaults reported in Somerset County.
Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald and Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor announced the charges against Rogelio Calyeca Postrero, 38, on Aug. 10.
Postrero was initially charged in relation to an act of lewdness in Raritan Borough on Aug. 4 and providing false government documents, which occurred in Branchburg in 2021, according to a press release through the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
During the course of the on-going investigation, it was determined that Postrero resembled both the New Jersey State Police composite sketch and the description provided by the victim of a sexual assault which occurred in Bridgewater Township on July 18, 2021, according to the press release.
The adult female victim, who was riding her bike in Duke Island Park, reported being sexually assaulted by an unknown male at approximately 9:07 p.m., according to the press release.
It was also determined Postrero resembled a state police composite sketch and description provided by the victim of a sexual assault which occurred in Franklin Township on May 16, according to the press release.
An adult female victim, who was running on the Six Mile Run Park trail near Blackwells Mills Road and Canal Road, reported being assaulted by an unknown male at 6:03 p.m., according to the press release.
A bicycle matching the description provided in the Franklin assault was recovered during a search warrant of Postrero’s residence, according to the press release.
In addition, an analysis was completed by the New Jersey State Police Office of Forensic Sciences Central Regional Laboratory, which confirmed that Postrero’s DNA matched the profile obtained from the previous assault at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater, according to the press release.
Postrero is charged with two counts of first degree aggravated sexual assault. He remains lodged at the Somerset County Jail awaiting a detention hearing in the matter.
