Sayreville Borough Council approves bond ordinances, resolutions, shared service agreements

SAYREVILLE – The Sayreville Borough Council has approved a number of bond ordinances, resolutions and shared service agreements.

Bond ordinances 

During a recent meeting, council members adopted a $3.6 million bond ordinance appropriating the funds for the road improvements. The bond ordinance also authorizes the issuance of $3.42 million in bonds or notes to help finance the appropriation.

A down payment of $180,000 will cover the remaining costs of the road improvements, according to the bond ordinance.

The improvements are for the repaving, milling and/or reconstruction of various roads, including Little Broadway from Quaid Street to French Street, Gordon Avenue from Lorraine Avenue to a dead end, Buchanan Avenue from Garfield Place to Taft Place, Oak Street (south) from Route 35 to a dead end, Highland Drive from Glynn Court to White Oaks Drive, Standiford Avenue from Main Street to Forrest Avenue, and Elizabeth Avenue and Sunrise Terrance from Albert Drive to Florence Drive, according to the bond ordinance.

The council adopted another bond ordinance that appropriates $3.07 million for the acquisition of vehicles and equipment. The bond ordinance also authorizes the issuance of $2.92 million in bonds or notes to help finance the appropriation. According to the bond ordinance, a down payment of $153,000 will cover the remaining costs.

The vehicles and equipment that will be acquired, according to the bond ordinance, include a police SUV, light towers, radar signs, a code enforcement SUV, fire department turnout gear, a fire department SUV, road department pickup trucks with warning lights, a loader bucket, a rotary cutter, a hook lift flat bed, snow removal equipment, LINE-X flatbeds, a rear-loader sanitation truck, automated refuse containers, automated refuse trucks, a flatbed roll-off truck, a parks department pickup truck and a sewer jet truck.

The $3.07 million appropriation will also be used towards the refurbishment of plows and the replacement of a fuel tank, according to the bond ordinance.

Resolutions

Council members passed a resolution authorizing Borough Engineer Jay Cornell to prepare conceptual plans and cost estimates to Sayreville Athletic Association and Sayreville Little League baseball fields in an amount not to exceed $5,000.

The Council passed a resolution authorizing a contract not to exceed $70,157 to Computer Design and Integration LLC, N.Y., for servers and storage.

The Council passed a resolution approving a $6,106 increase in the contract with Hunter Jersey Peterbilt, Millstone Township, for the purchase of a 520 automated side loader.

The change order is the first approved by the Council and the increase is to reflect actual quantities installed and work performed, according to the resolution.

Shared services

Council members passed a resolution authorizing the execution of a shared services agreement with South Amboy for the purchase of gasoline and diesel fuel.

The Council passed a resolution authorizing the award of a contract not to exceed $44,000 to Sissco Hoist, Hillsborough, for the maintenance and repair of cranes and equipment at Sayreville’s water plants.

The Council passed a resolution awarding a $1.01 million contract to Z Brothers Concrete Contractor Inc., Sayreville, for the second phase of improvements to the 2021 roadway paving and reconstruction project.
