Beatrice Ufford Zenzie, a 45-year resident of Princeton, died Wednesday, July 27 at Pennswood Village in Newtown, PA at the age of 87. She was the daughter of Charles Wilbur Ufford and Beatrice Wistar Ufford, of Haverford, PA. She is predeceased by her husband, Henry Zenzie, and her brother, Charles W. Ufford Jr.
Born in Meadville, PA, she grew up in La Jolla, CA, and Haverford, PA, where she attended The Baldwin School. She graduated from Radcliffe College in 1956, and after her marriage to her husband, a financial executive and business owner, they lived in Alaska, Toronto, and New York, NY, before settling in Princeton, NJ. A devoted mother to her four children, she was an active volunteer in their schools, including Miss Mason’s School and Princeton Day School. In her early years, she was a violinist and played for Princeton area chamber orchestras. Having been an avid ice dancer and tennis player, she was a longtime and highly involved member of Princeton Skating Club as well as Pretty Brook Tennis Club. She was a passionate cook and a talented seamstress, and spent her summers with family at Pocono Lake Preserve in Pennsylvania.
She is survived by her four children Henry (and Kathleen) Zenzie of Dover, MA; Beatrice (and George) Gregory of The Woodlands, TX; Charles (and Karen) Zenzie of Arlington, VA, and Elizabeth (and Paul) Meyer of Chevy Chase, MD, as well as nine grandchildren.
A memorial gathering for family is planned.
