The Manalapan Police Department has reported the following incidents that recently occurred in the community:

On Aug. 24 at 1:46 p.m., a Manalapan resident reported that an unknown individual made $5,300 in fraudulent purchases using the victim’s credit card information in New York. Patrolman Hunter Mauro handled the incident.

On Aug. 25 at 3:52 p.m., a Manalapan resident reported that unknown individuals entered an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a Kerwin Court residence and stole
credit cards. Patrolman Everett McNulty took the report.

On Aug. 29 at 10:41 a.m., employees of the Monmouth Heights Pool Club, 1 Ryan Road, reported that sometime between 4:30 p.m. Aug. 28 and 8:30 a.m. Aug. 29, an unknown individual damaged locks and fences at the facility. The monetary value of the damage is unknown at this time. Patrolman Hunter Mauro took the report.

On Aug. 30 at 6:08 p.m., a 31-year-old male resident of Neptune Township was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia at a Winfield Drive residence. The man was found to have a warrant issued for his arrest by the Neptune City Municipal Court in the amount of $500. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released after being issued summonses. Patrolman Douglas Zike was the arresting officer.

 

After 26 years of service to the Manalapan Police Department, Detective Sgt. Margaret Freeman retired on July 29.

Freeman began her career with the Manalapan Police Department in June 1996. She was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2004.

According to the police department, Freeman spent the majority of her career as a patrol sergeant. In July 2021 she was reassigned as a detective sergeant supervising the Detective Bureau.

According to the police department, Freeman was known for her active roles as an instructor at the Monmouth County Police Academy and as a liaison for Special Olympics New Jersey.

In other police news, in recent weeks the Manalapan Police Department welcomed its newest officers – Patrolman Christopher Capuzzo and Special Law Enforcement Officer Class III Jose Ramirez.

In a post on the department’s Facebook page, police administrators said, “We wish you both a safe, healthy and fulfilling career. Thank you to our mayor, Township Committee and township administrator for your support and for hiring these two officers … ”

 

CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, has been honored with the 2022 Workplace Partnership for Life Platinum Award for its organ and tissue donation awareness program from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The Platinum Award is the highest accolade granted by HRSA to hospitals which promote organ and tissue donation among their community and hospital. CentraState coordinates its outreach efforts with NJ Sharing Network, the nonprofit organization responsible for the recovery and placement of donated organs and tissue in the Garden State, according to a press release.

During the past year, CentraState conducted awareness and registry activities to encourage new donor registrations. CentraState team members wore blue and green in April to show their support and celebrate those individuals touched by organ donation. In addition, activities included in-person and online campaigns to reach internal and external audiences, according to the press release.
