Rotary Club of Hillsborough to organize ‘Flags for Heroes’ field of honor Veteran’s Day

The Rotary Club of Hillsborough is organizing the “Flags for Heroes” field of honor at the Hillsborough Township Municipal Complex for Veteran’s Day.

“Flags for Heroes” is a national movement designed to honor veterans by assembling a field of American flags bearing the names of the veteran on the flagpole.

“We had a great response last year from community members who wished to honor their family member or friend who served in the military,” said Michele Kidd, Rotary Club of Hillsborough member organizing the event. “Along with our Municipal Township partners, we assembled 100 American flags at the corner of Beekman Lane and South Branch Road. It was a very moving site for everyone who passed by.”

A dedication ceremony featuring township officials and special guests on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, will be held directly adjacent to the field of honor.

Anyone can sponsor a flag for a $50 donation, which will include the veteran’s name and short message from the sponsor attached to the flagpole. The flags will be in
position at the township Municipal Complex from November 5-19.
