The Princeton mens and womens basketball teams have earned trips to the NCAA Tournament.
This is the second time in school history that both teams in the same season have punched their ticket to play in the NCAA Tournament.
Princeton women’s basketball (23-5, 12-2 Ivy League) prevailed over Harvard in a comeback win, 54-48, at Jadwin Gymnasium for the Ivy Madness title on March 11. The win makes the program a four-time Ivy League Champion.
The team in its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance is now a 10th-seed in the tournament and faces off against 7th-seed North Carolina State University in Utah on March 17.
This is the Tigers second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Continuing Princeton’s success over the weekend, the men’s basketball team (21-8, 10-4 Ivy League) beat top-seeded Yale in the Ivy Madness tournament, 74-65, to win its championship.
The win not only earned the program another Ivy League Championship but ended a three-year championship title run by Yale.
As the 15th-seed in the South Region, the Princeton Tigers face the second-seeded Arizona Wildcats in the first round on March 16 in California. This is the program’s 26th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and first appearance since 2017.
Princeton became the first school in Ivy Madness postseason tournament history to have both men’s and women’s teams secure the championship titles during the same season since the postseason tournament was first established in 2017.
