Bernard M. McGlone, Jr. of Lawrenceville, passed away at Capital Health Hopewell on Sunday March 19th at the age of 95.
Mr. McGlone was born in Newark NJ to Bernard and Mary Agnes McGlone. He attended St. Rose of Lima Grammar school and Seton Hall Prep. Mr. McGlone served during WWll and Korea in the US Army as a paratrooper then was honorably discharged. He graduated from Columbia University with an Engineering degree.
He was employed by the City of Newark under Mayor Kenneth Gibson. He loved the City of Newark, NJ and its people.
Mr. McGlone was an avid reader and enjoyed history and theology. He enjoyed activities with the Knights of Columbus and held the position of State deputy from 1994-1996. Mr. McGlone had a very big heart to love. You would find him volunteering his time visiting with patients and participating in activities at Morris hall nursing and rehab. Mr. McGlone was a mentor and always had a kind word to offer and a listening ear. His sense of humor, beautiful smile and love for singing will be sorely missed.
He is predeceased by his parents Bernard and Mary Agnes (Burke) McGlone, his first wife Mona (Morse) McGlone, his Son in Law Micheal Hable Sr. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara McGlone. His Children Liz Hable, Mark McGlone and Kathleen and her husband David MacEllis and Patricia A. McGlone. His grandchildren and their spouses Mike and Julie Hable, Melanie and her husband Daniel Barry, Brigid and her husband Trystan Tevis, Mary-Katharine MacEllis, and Morris M. Waxman. His Great grandchildren Jessica and her husband Tristan Hendrix, Lea and Noah Schultheiss, great grandchildren Danny and Caitlyn Barry, TJ and Jolene Tevis. His Greatgreat granddaughter, Bella Schultheiss.
Funeral services are under the direction of Franklin Rainear Affordable Funeral Service, 1310 Prospect St, Ewing Township, NJ 08638. Funeral mass will be celebrated at The Church of Saint Ann In Lawrenceville NJ at a date to be determined.
