Lawrence Township to use State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds for 2023 road improvements
Nearly 20 streets throughout Lawrence Township will be getting a new coat of asphalt as part of the township’s 2023 road program.
The Lawrence Township Council approved spending $1.6 million in State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds, plus $775,000 from the township’s capital improvement fund, to pay for the road repairs at its May 23 meeting.
The State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds are being funneled down through the federal American Rescue Plan Act, which was enacted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2023 road program calls for resurfacing Van Kirk Road, Carson Road, Sturwood Way, Wexford Drive, Little Circle and Pembroke Court.
Gainsboro Road, Gedney Road, Fieldboro Road, Lake Drive, Polk Avenue, Winchester Avenue and West Long Drive also will be resurfaced.
Princeton Pike, between Darrah Lane and Franklin Corner Road, will get a new coat of asphalt. Shinney Lane, Mulberry Street, Stratton Place and Carter Place also are on the list for improvements.
Eggert Crossing Road, between Drift Avenue and Dave Nevious Drive at Central Park, will be resurfaced. The Anne Demarais Nature Center parking lot at 481 Drexel Ave. is slated to get a new coat of asphalt.
Lawrence Township used an earlier allocation of American Rescue Plan Act funds to pay for the 2022 road improvement program.
