Alfonso Medoro
Mr. Medoro, 63, of Jackson, died June 30 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Queens, N.Y., he had lived in Staten Island, N.Y., before moving to Marlboro and then to Jackson. Prior to retiring, he was a building manager for The Expansion Group, New York City, for more than 30 years. He loved fishing and going to Atlantic City. Surviving are his wife, Rose; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Dawn Medoro of Staten Island; and a daughter, Debbie Medoro of Jackson and her fiance, Nunzio. A funeral service was held at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan. Interment took place at Marlboro Cemetery, Marlboro.
Dale E. Walsh Deffert
Mrs. Deffert, 46, of Matawan, died July 12 at home. Born in Red Bank, she was a lifelong resident of Matawan. Mrs. Deffert was a homemaker, and a bus aide at Milu Bus Service Inc., Aberdeen. She was predeceased by her father, Thomas R. Walsh Sr. She is survived by her husband, Theodore Balog; her mother and stepfather, Violet and Wayne Morris of Brick; a son, Jarrett Feldman of Keyport; a brother, Thomas R. Walsh Jr. of Jamesburg; and her former husband, Matthew Feldman of Keyport. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements.
Avery Owenburg
Avery Owenburg, 8 months, of Howell, died July 12 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Neptune, she had lived in Howell since she was born. Surviving are her parents, Jennifer and Cory Owenburg of Howell; a brother, Brayden Owenburg, at home; her maternal grandparents, Ellen and Angelo Piro of Manalapan; her paternal grandparents, Deborah and Billy Owenburg of Freehold; her great-grandparents, Marie and Robert MacDougall of Florida; her great-great-grandmother, Viola MacDougall of Jackson; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A Mass of the Angels was celebrated at The Church of St. Veronica, Howell, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. The Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, was in charge of arrangements.
Dora C. Galgano Pedoto
Mrs. Pedoto, 89, of Colts Neck, died July 12 at Colts Neck Village Assisted Living, Colts Neck. Born in Nyack, N.Y., she had lived in Fairview, Cliffside Park and the Lincroft section of Middletown before moving to Colts Neck three years ago. Mrs. Pedoto was a packager for Clark O’Neill Co., North Bergen, for 20 years, retiring in 1972. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Fairview. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Grace Pedoto of Tuxedo Park, N.Y., and Gene and Lynda Pedoto of Lincroft; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Burial took place at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.
Florence Warren Zamot
Mrs. Zamot, 63 of Freehold, died July 2 in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was a nurse’s aide at Springview Nursing Home, Freehold Township, for 10 years, retiring 10 years ago. Surviving are her husband, Felix; six sons, David Pattaway of the Cayman Islands, Lawrence Pattaway of Freehold, Felix Zamot Jr. of Manchester, Rafael Zamot of Jacksonville, Fla., and Pedro “Albert” Zamot and Arthur Zamot, both of Freehold; a daughter, Danielle Fladger of Wrightstown; a brother, Sylvester “Sal” Warren of Freehold; three sisters, Viola “Jackie” Austin of Howell, Sylvia Day of Monroe and Gloria “Mary” Davis of Freehold; 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
Carlton F. Matthews
Mr. Matthews, 64, of Farmingdale, died July 9 at home. Born in Neptune, he was a lifelong resident of Farmingdale. Prior to retiring 12 years ago, Mr. Matthews was a plumber/steamfitter for United Association Plumbers & Pipefitters Local No. 9, Manalapan. A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of Pierce Memorial Presbyterian Church, Farmingdale, where he was a trustee and an elder. He also co-founded and actively volunteered for Joshua House Ministries, Farmingdale. Surviving are his wife, Judith Matthews; a son and daughter-in-law, Carlton “Ed” and Elena Matthews of Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Shelly M. and Bill McAteer of Brick; his father, Lester Matthews of Lynch, Md.; two brothers, Lester “Bob” Matthews of Farmingdale and Clifford Matthews of Wharton, Md.; a sister, Janice Lee Dey of Betterton, Md.; and two grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Pierce Memorial Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Steven Kengeter officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale.
