NORTH BRUNSWICK — The attorney for the township Board of Education has received the 2008 Professional Lawyer of the Year award for Middlesex County, presented by the New Jersey Committee on Professionalism.

Anthony Vignuolo, 63, of Milltown, has been representing the Board of Education since 1999. He has been with the law firm Borrus, Goldin, Foley, Vignuolo, Hyman & Stahl since 1970 after graduating from Rider College in 1967 and Seton Hall University Law School in 1970.

The Milltown resident has served as an attorney for the New Brunswick Board of Adjustment, as a municipal court judge in Spotswood and New Brunswick, as a secretary for the Middlesex County Ethics Committee, as a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Municipal Courts, as an attorney for the Milltown Planning Board, as an attorney for the Milltown Board of Education and as an attorney for the Middlesex County Vocational Board of Education.

Vignuolo is a former member of the Middlesex County Auto Arbitration Panel, the Middlesex County Matrimonial Early Settlement Panel, the Chancery Early Settlement Panel and the New Jersey State Bar Association Jurisprudence Committee. He has been an instructor at the Joseph Halpern Inns of Court and Institute for Continuing Legal Education.

He is also a member of the New Brunswick, Middlesex County and New Jersey State bar associations.

“This is a very humbling experience, to have people recognize your professionalism,” Vignuolo said.

Currently, Vignuolo’s field of practice lies in business law, environmental law, complex civil litigation and administrative law, and school law. For the school board, he handles cases revolving around student discipline, residency issues, personnel matters, contractual matters, contract reviews and school construction.

“I’ve appreciated the quality of board members … and the professionalism and respect in their service to the North Brunswick community, which makes my job easier. They are dedicated and competent and know what they are doing,” Vignuolo said of the relationships he has developed over the years.

Vignuolo’s other areas of experience are in real estate, wills and estates, family law, zoning law, employment law, personal injury law and mass tort litigation.
