Resident dreads the truck traffic Home Depot would bring

Home Depot is trying to get a variance for having less than the required amount of parking at the proposed site on Route 70 in Brick. Has anyone ever seen what Home Depot does with their parking lots? They use them for storage and tent sales.

All you have to do is look at the condition of the parking lot at the Home Depot in Lakewood. Add to that the fact that Home Depot does not provide areas for cart returns. Home Depot uses those flat trolleys and people just leave them everywhere, cutting into parking space.

Furthermore, has anyone considered the truck traffic the store would invite into this city? Can’t you just see the lineup of trucks as they make their deliveries to Lakewood, then the new Lowe’s, then to the new Home Depot? From there, they will head up Brick Boulevard, which is already a traffic mess.

This city has already added a new traffic light for Lowe’s on Route 70. These delivery trucks will be cutting through Brick neighborhoods when the traffic gets backed up.

I know the flow of 18-wheelers on Beaverson Boulevard has increased. There are all adult communities along Beaverson and many seniors use the Lions Head Office Park for doctor visits.

It is pretty scary to listen to the sound of inexperienced truck drivers having to hit their air brakes in order to stop their vehicles along Beaverson. And now the Home Depot is inviting more trucks into Brick. No one seems to care for the senior population of this city, but that’s another subject.

I just moved here from California, where sharing the roads with trucks is a common everyday occurrence. It is a nightmare. I thought I was getting away from it, but I guess I was wrong.
