Army Pvt. Christopher R. Lynch has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

Lynch is a 1994 graduate of Brick Memorial High School.

Army Sgt. Alan Cacho is deploying to Afghanistan to serve as a member of Combined Joint Task Force-76 (CJTF-76). The soldier is regularly assigned to the 13th Military Police Company based at Caserma Ederle, Vicenza, Italy,

CJTF-76 is a combined and joint rotation unit supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. The soldier will join other units that comprise CJTF-76 to help the Afghan people continue on their progress to a free society.

Mission objectives of the combined joint task force include establishing security, defeating Al-Qaida and Taliban forces, and deterring the re-emergence of terrorism. The soldiers are committed to staying the course in Afghanistan and standing firm with the Afghan people against forces actively working to prevent the establishment of a stable and secure environment.

Cacho, a military police sergeant, is the son of Alicia C. Brooks, of Toms River. His wife, Jennifer, is the daughter of Susan Massano, of Brick. He is a 1997 graduate of Toms River High School North.

Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Patrick S. O’Neill, son of Mary and James O’Neill, of Brick, and the Marines of 2nd Force Service Support Group (Forward) recently assumed operational control of Marine Corps Logistics forces, while stationed at Camp Taqaddum, Iraq.

O’Neill’s unit deployed from Camp Lejeune, N.C., in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and provides logistical support including supplies, maintenance, transportation, landing support and health services for II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).

The 4,000 Marines and Sailors primary mission is to assist in the reconstruction of Iraq, and develop a safe and representative Iraq that will contribute to the defeat of the global threat of terrorism.

O’Neill is a 2001 graduate of Brick Memorial High School and joined the Marine Corps in June 2002.

Army Pvt. Joseph B. Toci has graduated from basic combat military training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

During the eight weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction in drill and ceremonies, rifle marksmanship, weapons, map reading, tactics, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, Army history, core values and traditions, and special training in human relations.

Toci is the son of Randolph Toci, of Brick. He is a 1994 graduate of Brick Memorial High School.
