Jennifer Testa Clayton
Mrs. Clayton, 38, of Uniontown, Md., formerly of Millstone, died Aug. 17 as a result of injuries she received in a vehicular bicycle accident. Born in Livingston, she grew up in Millstone and was a 1986 graduate of Allentown High School. She earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College), Westminster, Md., and a master of science degree in biomedical sciences from Hood College, Frederick, Md. After 10 years at Fort Detrick, Frederick, she left the field of biomedical research to obtain her teacher certification and became a science teacher. She had taught for several years at Shiloh Middle School, Hampstead, Md., where she was still employed at the time of her death. She was a member of Uniontown United Methodist Church, Westminster, where she was active in community outreach, especially through her volunteer work at the food pantry at Westminster (Md.) Church of the Brethren. She was a gifted athlete and held many records while a field hockey goalie at Western Maryland College. An expert swimmer, she swam across the Chesapeake Bay and was a swim master at the YMCA. Mrs. Clayton is survived by her husband of 13 years, Michael Allen Clayton; three children, Lexie, Patrick and Jesse, all at home; her mother, Marianne Gail (Sanford) Fords of DeLand, Fla.; her father and stepmother, Fredrick and Nancy (Drumright) Testa of East Brunswick; a brother, Fredrick Testa Jr. of Newberg, Ore.; a sister, Margo Lee Testa of East Brunswick; her maternal grandmother, Stephanie Sanford DiGiovanni of Deltona, Fla.; her paternal grandmother, Lena Testa of Hillside; and many close friends and colleagues. The Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, Westminster, was in charge of arrangements. Enriqueta Masecampo Burnham
Mrs. Burnham, 69, of Tyrone, Ga., died Sept. 7 at Heartland Hospice, Riverdale, Ga. Born in Cebu City, The Philippines, she had resided in Manalapan before moving to Georgia. She was a pediatrician in private practice in Manalapan for 30 years before her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Burnham. She is survived by three daughters, Corine Burnham of Santa Fe, N.M., Yvette Couser of South Bend, Ind., Lorraine Loop of Tyrone, Ga.; one son, Scott Burnham of West Paulette, Vermont; a brother, Rudy Masecampo of The Philippines; and 12 grandchildren. A mass was held at St. Gabriel’s Historic Church, Marlboro, and was followed by entombment at St. Gabriel’s Mausoleum. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold was in charge of arrangements.
William F. Herberger
Mr. Herberger, 84, of Freehold Township, died Sept. 13 at home. He was born in the Bronx, N.Y. He attended Columbia University, New York City, and graduated from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1971, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. During World War II, he was a ball turret gunner, and in 1951 he was assigned to the 307th Group of the Strategic Air Command as assistant director of wing personnel. After serving in the military, he was employed by the E.J. Lavino Co. as a chemical engineer and later by Quigley Co. (which became a subsidiary of Pfizer in 1968) and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Old Bridge, where he created many patents. He was predeceased by his wife of more than 60 years, Jean Herberger. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Palmerio; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Janice Herberger; and five grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Chapel, Freehold, followed by entombment at St. Rose of Lima Mausoleum, Freehold Township. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
