Local towns join ‘Pink’ campaign

RED BANK — “Paint the Town Pink,” a breast cancer awareness initiative, began as a weeklong campaign in Red Bank and has blossomed into a monthlong, two-county effort to raise awareness of the importance of annual mammography.

In 2015, 41 towns in Monmouth and Ocean counties will join together to participate in the communitywide event throughout the month of May, according to Meridian Health.

Throughout the month, residents in the two counties can check out more than 40 town happenings, including fundraisers, educational events, and family activities. At the heart of the local events is the reminder to schedule mammograms at a Meridian Women’s Center, where women may also enjoy some pink pampering.
