Monmouth U. to host Lyme conference

WEST LONG BRANCH — An intensive, half-day conference on Lyme disease will take place at Monmouth University in West Long Branch on Sept. 12.

The conference, which runs 7:45 a.m.- 12:40 p.m., will provide physicians and other health care professionals with the skills needed to diagnose early- and latestage Lyme disease and associated co-infections.

With the theme “The Fundamentals of Diagnosis & Treatment of Lyme Disease and Co-infections,” the conference is designed to provide physicians and other health care professionals with insight into recent developments in the understanding of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. It will also provide basic tools and strategies for counseling, prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

The conference will feature presentations by renowned experts Dr. Joseph J. Burrascano Jr. and Dr. Robert C. Bransfield, who have extensive experience treating tick-borne illness. To register or for more information, visit www.ilads.org.

According to the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society, which is presenting the event, Lyme disease is the fastest-growing infectious disease in the U.S., and New Jersey is endemic for such illnesses.
