RUMSON — Rumson Restaurant Month returns for the fourth year in March, Rumson Mayor John E. Ekdahl announced. The month-long event showcases unique dining experiences and plenty of savings.
“We are happy to celebrate Rumson Restaurant Month, a great show of community spirit with 100 percent participation,” said Ekdahl in a press release. “This event is particularly helpful to the restaurants and our community due to the months-long closure of the Oceanic Bridge for repairs.
Rumson Restaurant Month will give diners a reason to make Rumson their destination and give a boost to restaurants being affected by the closing.
Diners — local and from other towns — will be able to take advantage of the diversity of eateries for every taste and budget with special dining deals and restaurants,
There have been exciting changes to Rumson’s restaurant scene as well. New in town is Ristorante Giorgia, Rumson’s only BYO, at 102 Avenue of Two Rivers, which offers authentic Italian fare.
Following in the family theme and the pursuit of an authentic cuisine is Murray MacGregor’s, which has changed ownership and announced its new name on March 1, Molly Maguire’s Blackpoint Inn, and is introducing a new menu embracing quality ingredients.
Other newsworthy events are a new general manager, Jay Stevens, at David Burke Fromagerie. Stevens comes with a wealth of experience from top restaurants in the Philadelphia area. Also, Salt Creek Grille will hold its ninth annual Wine & Martini Fundraiser on March 29 with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the Count Basie Theatre Performing Arts Academy. Tickets are $125 and can be purchased by calling the theater at 732-224-8778, ext. 118.
Participating restaurants are: Barnacle Bill’s, David Burke Fromagerie, Molly Maguire’s Blackpoint Inn, Ristorante Giorgia, Salt Creek Grille, Undici, Val’s Tavern and Restaurant, and What’s Your Beef. Special dining deals include prix fixe menus, nightly specials, specially priced dishes, drink specials, St. Patrick’s Day fun, live music and more.
Plenty of free parking is another good reason to dine in Rumson.
Rumson Restaurant Month is underwritten by each participating restaurant and the Rumson Endowment Fund, a nonprofit that supports worthwhile capital improvements, events and causes in Rumson.
