RED BANK — Red Bank Community Church will present an art exhibit celebrating the life of Lee Liebmann, an 86-year-old resident of Teaneck who left Nazi Germany just weeks before Kristallnacht, which marked the beginning of the end of Jewish life there.
The exhibit will open at 3 p.m. Oct. 16 at the church, located at 135 Monmouth St.
The exhibit will feature works by Lee Liebmann’s daughter-in-law, Gerda Liebmann, a Swiss-born local artist whose work has been displayed in galleries worldwide. The works offer a visually compelling narrative of Lee Liebmann’s life journey, which began in the town of Limburg, where his father was a horse dealer. His father brought himto London duringWorldWar II before coming to the United States in 1946.
The exhibit opening will feature an interview with Lee Liebmann by his son, the Rev. Lenny Liebmann, senior pastor of Red Bank Community Church, followed by a questionand answer session.
All are invited to attend the opening of this special event. Additional exhibit hours are 1-3 p.m. Oct. 23 and 24. Special exhibit times are available by request for schools, synagogues, churches and other interested organizations.
