SHREWSBURY — English conversation classes will begin this month at the Eastern Branch Library in Shrewsbury as well as at Monmouth County Library headquarters in Manalapan.
The classes are open to adults who are interested in learning to speak English and practicing their English skills. The emphasis is on speaking conversationally, rather than on grammar and writing skills. All classes are free of charge.
The Eastern Branch Library English conversation class will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 22. Interested participants should register for the class at the Eastern Branch on either Sept. 22 or Sept. 29. The class is run by the Literacy Volunteers of Monmouth County and will be held every Wednesday 7-8:30 p.m. until Dec. 15. The branch is located at 1001 Route 35 north.
At library headquarters, 125 Symmes Drive in Manalapan, both beginner- and intermediate level English conversation classes will be offered; the class began Tuesday, Sept. 14. The beginner level class held 4-5:30 p.m.; the intermediate class is 7-8:30 p.m. The classes will be held every Tuesday until mid-December, and registration is not required.
Also being offered at the Eastern Branch is a free workshop on organizing your financial affairs. “More Order, Less Stress” will take place 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Eastern Branch and will be hosted by Liz Gearon, owner of Ship Shape Financial, and Beth Punzi, financial advisor at Merrill Lynch.
