Ferdinand K. “Fred” Platzer Jr.

Mr. Platzer, 56, of Howell, died Nov. 18, 2012, suddenly, from a fall, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, N.Y. Mr. Platzer was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the U.S.S. King. He was the owner/operator of A Chimney Man, Howell. Prior to that, he was the owner of Pest-Man, Howell. He also was the executive chef at the Hyatt Regency, New Brunswick, and at Monmouth Park Racetrack. Surviving are his wife, Michelle D. Platzer; three daughters, Krystle Platzer, Emerald Platzer and Jade Platzer, all of Howell; three grandsons; his mother, Ruth Platzer, of Little Silver; a brother, Robert Platzer, and his wife, Nancy, of Tinton Falls; two sisters, Doris Marinaccio, of Elberon, and Louise O’Malley, and her husband, Kevin, of Little Silver; and many other family members. A memorial service was held at the Immanuel Bible Church, Howell. Memorial donations may be made to the church to support local and foreign missions. Arrangements were under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
