Consolidate municipalities to save property taxes

Let’s be real: the only way to reduce property taxes in New Jersey is to consolidate the 566 municipalities into one.

The state has a unique opportunity with Fort Monmouth closing by consolidating the three fiefdoms – Ocean, Eatontown and Tinton Falls – each municipality could then sell off their municipal complexes and use of the Fort Monmouth buildings as the new combined municipality’s headquarters.

Initially each mayor could possibly serve as mayor for a four-month term until a consolidated election could be held.

Just think of the windfall tax savings realized if this plan is implemented.
