OCEAN GROVE – The Historical Society of Ocean Grove is offering visitors the opportunity to learn various skills from the Victorian Era this summer.
Workshops run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and registration is limited so instructors can work one-on-one with participants. The fee is $15.
Workshops will be held on the grounds of Centennial Cottage (unless otherwise noted) and light refreshments will be served.
Workshops include:
•Paper Quilling – The art of creating decorative designs from thin strips of curled paper, Wednesday, July 9.
•Paper Beads – Learn the history of paper beads, view examples and begin a necklace or bracelet, Friday, July 11.
•Calligraphy – Friday, July 25.
•Crazy Quilting I – Learn a variety of crazy quilt stitches, Monday, July 28, at Historical Society museum.
•Crazy Quilting II – Combine your crazy quilt stitches to create your own “Doodle Cloth,” Monday, Aug. 4, at Historical Society museum.
•Quilting – A brief overview of the history of quilting will be shared. Participants will be shown how to hand piece a four-patch block. Those who wish can donate their blocks to Project Linus, an organization that provides quilts to children in need, Friday, Aug. 22.
