Anita Hom
Mrs. Hom, 56, of Millstone, died Dec. 13, 2006, at home. She was born in Augusta, Ga. Mrs. Hom was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Hightstown, where she sang in the choir for the past 20 years. Surviving are her husband, Wickie Hom; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Delores and Joseph Wong of Warren, Brenda Wong of Augusta, and Patricia Wong and Teresa and Greg Tom, all of Athens, Ga.; her mother-in-law, Fay Hom of Millstone; three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sue Lin and Neil Moore of Mount Laurel, Kim and John Holzman of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Nancy and Frank Hom of Millstone; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Glackin/Saul Funeral Home, Hightstown, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
James J. Walling Sr.
Mr. Walling, 90, of Howell, died Dec. 22, 2006, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in the East Freehold section of Freehold Township, he had resided in Howell for the past 40 years and was a 1937 graduate of Freehold High School, Freehold Borough. He worked as a bookkeeper for the A&M Karagheusian rug mill, Freehold, and then as an office manager for Rapp Farms in Howell before he retired. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post No. 54 and a member and past commander of Catholic War Veterans Post No. 760, both of Freehold. He was also a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township. Mr. Walling was predeceased by his wife, Lillian, in 1991, as well as three brothers, Jacob, William and Wesley, and a sister, Hannah Hanaway. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, James J. Walling Jr. and Timothy and Peggy Walling, all of Howell; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Bobby Tilton of Manasquan; and three grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, followed by entombment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
Mary Sirutis
Mary Florence “Flossie” Sirutis, 92, of Freehold, died Dec. 3, 2006, at John L. Montgomery Home, Freehold Township. Born in Freehold, she was a lifelong resident and worked as a seamstress at Eisner’s Coat Factory for more than 20 years prior to retiring in 1979. Florence was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church and a member of the former Lithuanian Club of Freehold. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent J. Sirutis in 1973; her brother, Edward J. Leshinsky; and two sisters, Sophie Walker and Margaret Olsen. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Stanley J. and Mary Ann Leshinsky of Freehold; three nieces; and seven nephews. Services were held at the Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.
