Love of music focus of joint exhibit

"Duet" by Val              Dyshlov“Duet” by Val Dyshlov A joint exhibit by Val Dyshlov and Fred Mayr titled “In Love With Music” will be featured in the main gallery of the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury during May.

The exhibit will run from April 30 through May 25. An opening reception will be held Sunday, May l from 3-5 p.m.

Dyshlov, working in oil and acrylics, and Mayr, sculpting in wood, offer a diverse viewing experience.

Born in Siberia, Dyshlov was trained at the Kharlov Art School in the Ukraine and was a member of the Union of Arts of the Soviet Union, before moving to Monmouth County in 1995. A Morganville resident, he currently teaches at the Music and Art Academy in Marlboro, and has exhibited widely in Europe and in New York.

"Modern Talking" by Val Dyshlov “Modern Talking” by Val Dyshlov Mayr, who sculpts abstractly in wood, has also exhibited throughout the United States and Europe. A native of Austria, he came to the United States as a German linguist at the Monterey, Calif., Language Institute, and now lives in Long Branch.

Working in many different woods, his works, while abstract, often represent mothers, children and family groups, as well as animals.
