An interesting observation was made during the public portion of a recent Millstone Township Com-mittee meeting. If a husband and wife (Bill Kastning and Carol Nelson, for example) are on a five-seat committee, does that change the equal (20 percent) representation to an unequal representation of three, each with 20 percent, and one 40 percent (out of one household)?
Does that mean that Millstone Township governance moves from a "best interests of the residents" playing field to a political and personal battlefield?
Considering all the situations that Committeeman Kastning seems to have put himself in the middle of — Millstone Open Space Trust (MOST); accusations of extortion; "strong-arm" tactics in the name of open space; ballfield lighting litigation against the township; use of private e-mail traffic to conduct Open Public Meeting Acts business; violation of executive session rules; excessive publicity to the detriment of fellow committeemen; etc. — does it make sense to invite the Kastning household to grab a bigger piece of our pie? Or does it make sense to put other Kastning supporters on the committee?
Actually folks, we have no choice — a vote for Wingerter and Abate is the only choice.
