I would like to take this opportunity to thank the hundreds of Millstone residents who came out to support my candidacy April 16. I am truly humbled and honored by the trust that you placed in me even though the results may not have been favorable in the end. Running for the Board of Education was a great experience, and I hope that many more residents consider taking on the same challenge in the future.
I also would like to congratulate the incumbents who now must deal with the difficult issues our school district is facing. I urge them to focus on planning more appropriately regarding facilities, put into action a strategic plan in order to recruit and retain top instructional talent, explore and implement new ways to communicate effectively with township residents, identify new opportunities to improve student achievement, and carefully consider the best interests of our children and residents when confronting our high school dilemma.
These should not be considered high expectations. On the contrary, they should be considered minimum acceptable standards. Our board must raise the bar on themselves, and the residents of Millstone must hold them accountable. The future of our school district is too important to remain complacent — the status quo is no longer acceptable.
Once again, I would like to convey my deepest and most sincere gratitude to my family, friends, neighbors and fellow Millstone residents who supported my candidacy over the past few months. My appreciation for your encouragement and support goes beyond words.
