Youths invited to dig up
history at Walnford
The Monmouth County Park System continues its "Step Back in Time" program at Historic Walnford, Crosswicks Creek Park, Upper Freehold, with two programs.
"Digging Up History," a program for youngsters ages 7-12, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 15. Participants will travel back in time and experience activities from the 18th and 19th centuries The cost is $15 per person; preregistration is required.
"A Piece of the Past," a program for youngsters ages 8-11, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. August 16, 17 and 18. Participants will learn how members of one family viewed the Revolutionary War, see how mills formed a village and connect the past to the present with an archeological dig. The cost is $60 per person; preregistration is required.

Bus trip to Annapolis
planned for Oct. 21
Millstone Township Community Education will sponsor a trip to Annapolis, Md., on Oct. 21. The trip will include bus transportation, a guided walking tour of Annapolis, a narrated cruise aboard the Harbor Queen and plenty of free time for lunch and dinner on the waterfront. The bus will stop in Millstone Township and in Allentown.
Final registration date is Sept. 5. The cost is $43 per person for registrations received by Aug. 21, and $48 per person thereafter. The trip is open to all residents of Millstone and Upper Freehold Township.
Millstone girl is finalist
in pre-teen contest
Angela Millin, daughter of Angela and Thomas Millin of Millstone Township, has been selected as a finalist in the Pre-Teen New Jersey scholarship and recognition program to be held Aug. 4-6 at the Brunswick Hilton, East Brunswick.
Pre-Teen New Jersey is a by-invitation-only event for girls ages 7-12 and is based on their school academic record, awards and honors, and their participation in outside activities.
Catholic Young Adult
clubs to hold reunion
The Catholic Young Adult clubs of the Diocese of Trenton are planning a reunion. A Memorial Mass for former moderator Monsignor D. Turtora, and all other past CYAC members who are deceased, will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 7 at St. Ann’s Church, Carr Avenue, Keansburg. Following the mass, which will be celebrated by Monsignor Leonard Toomey, there will be a dinner at Buck Smith’s Restaurant, 500 Palmer Ave., North Middletown.
